"I plan to vote by mail in Virginia."
One important thing to note about voting by mail while living in Charlottesville:
The Post Office cannot forward mail-in ballots to another address. This means if UVA sends students home due to COVID-19, and if your ballot is in your mailbox at that time, it cannot be forwarded to you. If you are worried about this, you might consider voting in-person instead.

You must request a mail-in ballot by October 23rd.
Your mail-in ballot must be postmarked by November 3rd and received by noon on November 6th, though many experts recommend submitting by October 27th to ensure it is counted, given potential Post Office delays. If you are concerned about your vote arriving in time, you may consider voting in-person instead.
