- Charlottesville is in a competitive Congressional district
- It may be easier for you to vote here rather than travel elsewhere in Virginia to vote
Or, register at your permanent address if these are both true:
#1) Your permanent address is in another competitive Virginia district. The 2nd and 7th districts in Virginia are considered competitive (according to The Cook Political Report). See if your permanent address is in one of those districts here.
#2) You are confident you will be able to vote by mail, or you know you can easily vote in person at your permanent address.

- Be aware: If UVA sends students home due to COVID-19, the Post Office will not be able to forward any mail-in ballots to another address. If you are worried about this, consider registering in Charlottesville instead.

Forge created HoosVoting.org and a rideshare system to get students to the polls in collaboration with Student Council, University Democrats, and College Republicans.
University Democrats
University Democrats inform students about the values and issues of the Democratic Party and link students to the wider political and Charlottesville community through meetings, campaigning, events, and educational programs. UDems assists with voter registration and student voter education.
College Republicans
The College Republicans at the University of Virginia is a political organization dedicated to promoting Republican principles, electing Republican officials, and providing speakers, debates, and more. College Republicans assist with voter registration and student voter education.
